Wow! What a fun twist on a holiday classic! I LOVE peppermint...the candy, the oil, the flower...all of it! Peppermint is an awesome oil known for a MULTITUDE of uses. Peppermint oil contains Menthol and is totally wonderful for use on the scalp and in skin care. In hair care, peppermint oil relieves the nagging itch of dandruff or dry scalp as well as lice. It's also an excellent nourisher of the skin---calming oily skin and revitalizing dry skin. You can use it as a "refresher" (which is the purpose for use in this recipe) for stress and anxiety. It is also believed to be a good pain reliever...Not to mention it's a neat, thoughtful gift for someone special! Let's get mixing! The recipe is very simple, very easy. Your ingredients are: 2 Cups of Dead Sea Salt (Or Epsom salt if a less expensive salt is desired) 4 - 6 Drops of Peppermint Oil 2 - 3 Drops of Red Food Coloring (Red Skin-safe dye for bath products is what we use at Zhi--this can be purchased at a bath & body supplier and some candle suppliers) Medium to Large Clear Glass Jar w/Lid Wooden or Plastic Scoop What To Do! 1. Place 1 cup of sea salt in a bowl. 2. Add 2 - 3 drops of peppermint oil to the salt and mix well. 3. Add the remaining salt with 2 - 3 drops of oil and the food coloring in a 2nd bowl. Mix well. 4. Alternate layering the red (or pink, dependent on the amount of dye used) and white salts in the glass jar. 5. Seal tightly & YOU'RE DONE! These bath soaks make fabulous gifts for the holidays and even more fabulous for those of us who need to wind down and feel refreshed AFTER the food is cooked, everyone is happy and enjoying each other, and the dust has settled. =)
